The Truth About Juicing

It’s a new year, which means one thing: resolutions. People usually want to loose weight, quit smoking, save money, but a new fad has come out of the wood work lately that celebrities and health nuts seem to be raving about: juicing.

When you extract the juices from vegetables or fruits from a juicer, that’s called juicing. People usually substitute their meals with their juiced concoction, which some medical professionals are deeming as unhealthy if abused.

Some people do a multiple day “cleanse” where they will only drink juice for an extended period of time to loose weight fast, but how healthy is that?

Keith-Thomas Ayoob says, “But there’s a catch to all this juicing. You can do it for only so long before the benefits become a detriment to your health.” He goes on to say, “You’ll see the pounds drop, but it’s not the quality of weight loss you want. The goal should be losing fat weight, not muscle weight.” (The Truth About Juicing)

If you want to loose the weight, do it the old fashioned way, with a lean and protein filled diet and exercise. That doesn’t mean you can’t juice, that is also a healthy way to get the nutrients and vitamins from fruits and vegetables but don’t over do it.
